Nutro is now reintroducing their previously recalled cat foods.
“We have further enhanced ingredient quality and a food-safety program to ensure that it is state-of-the-art within the pet-food industry,” Nutro says in its Aug. 7 press release about the reintroduction of its cat food. “This includes stricter quality checks for our suppliers, upgraded ingredient management in our factories, as well as more extensive testing of our inbound raw materials and finished products.”
The voluntary recall enacted by Nutro in May affected Natural Choice®, Complete Care® and Nutro MAX® dry cat foods dated May 12 to Aug. 19, 2010. The recall was put into effect when Nutro discovered that two premixes from one of the company’s U.S.-based suppliers contained excessive levels of zinc and potassium.
As of Aug. 7, Nutro says all of its cat food brands are again available at pet-food retailers.
