A voluntary recall by Jakks Pacific, makers of Kong, has been initiated based on specific sell-by dates of the Aussie Sticks Jumbo Lamb flavor and Beef flavor treats. These are distributed by PetsMart.

Recalled sell-by dates include the following flavors, UPC codes, and sell-by dates:

If you notice that you have this at home, follow these steps:

1) Discontinue use of the product immediately

2) Return the product immediately to PetsMart for a full refund. Bring a copy of your receipt or a copy of the recall email that you received.

3) When in doubt, you can call Jakks Pacific’s customer service number at (877) 875-2557.

Rare side effects from mold ingestion can include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, inappetance, and anorexia. In rare cases, some types of mold can result in liver failure, including signs like jaundice, black tarry stool, increased liver enzymes, coma, seizures and death. When in doubt, if your pet is showing any clinical signs, seek immediate veterinary attention!
